so during the trip, we experienced what we call our 7 wonders. this trip is like the most exciting trip ever mainly because all of us are amateurs at travelling on our own. it's like a different adventure for each of us. let's start from the beginning.
..::1st Wonder: Rental and Petrol::..
so when we arrive from KLIA LCC Terminal, the first thing we did after collecting our luggage, we went to rent a car, we rented from this dealer who offered us a Proton Wira (automatic) for RM150 the whole of the 4 days we were going to be there. he promised us that there was RM20 petrol left for us in the car, but contridicting to what he said, when the car was handed to us, the dealer told us "dengar sini ar, lepas keluar airport, belok kiri, ikut jalan sampai simpang, belok kanan, sana boleh nampak petrol station, pam petrol kat sana". Alamak ai, we went in the car, the light was blinking, indicating the empty petrol tank. then so clever, we arrived at the station, first time we were renting car, we must have been excited, we filled full tank, RM 84.50 wei~!!!
..::2nd Wonder: Complementary Gift of the cheap car::..
so when we arrived at Langkawi it was already in the evening, we went to our hotel, checked in and rested for awhile then we met up with Jo Neil's cousin, Nick and went for dinner, after dinner we we went back to the hotel to chill with some beer.we went for supper awhile later. when we hopped back into our car, Jo Neil noticed that the was a bug on the dashboard, he threw it out of the window, then halfway travelling to send nick back, Nick noticed that there were a few more of the same insects at the back of the back car seats (on the speakers). the girls freaked out. we were guessing at that time that the bugs were roaches. so the next morning we went to buy some moth balls to repell the bugs. the next night even more roaches appeared probably to get away from the smell of the moth balls we used, Jeffrey got to pissed, he took a map and started swapping on the roaches and threw more moth balls into the car, we killed a total of 8 roaches that night. so apparently we paid a price of RM150 for the car with a complementary of a family of roaches in it.
..::3rd Wonder: 7 'Miserable' Wells::..
so the next morning came, it's a norm for our group to go by our plans in an in prompted fashion. so we decided in the morning after breakfast that we were going to the cable car on some hill of Langkawi. so off we went to find the place. we found it after the many u-turns we made. but just when we arrived at the destination, we were told that the cable car was not running because of the strong wind, so we thought maybe we can go to the Telajah Tujuh place first, so off we went to the place. we parked our car at the foot of the hill and started to hike by foot up to the top. nobody told us that the hill was THAT high, we climb up to what seem or rather what we wished was half the way already just to discover that we had only climbed 271 steps and had like another 360++ steps to climb, goodness... you have no idea how bad our reaction were at that moment. so we continued hiking, stopping at practically every resting bench along the way. so finally we were up there, and we can't help but to say that we were damn disappointed with it. you climbed over 700 step hoping to see something magnificent. but i tell you, it's not worth all the sweat and strength. we practically climbed all the way up and almost immediately climbed back all the way down.
so while we were up at the telajah tujuh place we saw that the cable car no far away was already functioning, so as soon as we reach back to the foot of the hill, we called up to confirm that the cable car was running already. so we got the green light from them and we went. we bought the tickets and happily went up the moutain via the cable car (duh~). so we were up there on the bridge and i can say that the view from the top is priceless. so beautiful... but while enjoying the view, we suddenly saw from the bridge that the cable car was not moving. so we were laughing and saying that luckily we weren't the ones in the cable car at that time. so we waited for quite sometime up there for the cars to start moving. apparently besides the strong wind, the electric suply was also broken. so they were trying to start the generator. so the cable car was moving again, but at a very slow pace. but we went down anyway. and then, at the highest point, out of sudden, the cable car stopped~!!! we tried not to think so much and continued crapping and cocking, after about 15 to 20 minutes, it started moving again. and at the steepest point of the journey down, it was a bit thrilling lar, i have to admit, Joo Li not only grabbed Jo Neil's hand, but also grabbed mine and started crying. but anyways, we arrived back safely.
..::5th Wonder: Need for Speed on Sea::..
so the next day we decided to go for island hopping. that is like the best out of all the activities we did there~!!! it's the first speed boat experience for all of us. it's seriously like playing need for speed only this is on sea. we were like riding the waves and the sea was a bit choppy from the strong winds. but it was the best lar. we were all sort of soaked with sea water at the end of the boat ride(s). than they brought us to several places during the hopping. first they stopped us in the middle of the sea to look at the is land of the pregnant maiden or better known as Pulau Dayang Bunting. the island is the shape of a pregnant lady lying down. quite magnificent lar. then they brought us to the Tasik Dayang Bunting. there we rented kayaks and solar boats to ride around and the guys jumped in to a fenced up area in the lake for a swim. and the last destination of the trip was to Pantai Beras Basah, where we built our own pregnant maiden out of Jo Neil. there were many jelly fishes wash up shore on the beach, it was disgusting looking but yet quite amusing. then we headed back to the main land.
..::6th Wonder: Cliff Hanger::..
so after much anticipation, the last night that we were there we decided to go and eat the recommended tom yum which was supposedly very delicious. Nick navigated us over the phone to the makan place. he said something like when you see the abandon water park, just follow the road, you will see a light ahead, just follow it. so we did as we were told, we just 'follow the road' so in the beginning it was not very bad, besides there was no street lamp. so in the beginning there was like a path with coconut trees lined up at the side so we continued driving on. we got worried when the road was narrowing. we called Nick again to ask if it was suppose to be dark and had many trees at the side, he reassured us that it was right. so we continued driving on. then when the road narrowed further, and on our left hand side was the open sea already, with no railling all we could say to ourselves was oh god, please make the tom yum taste very good. then the road narrowed somemoreand tree on the left started to disappear, and not only that, when we looked properly, the road was cracked and it was like an open cliff leading straight down to the sea. and the uncracked road was like just nice to fit the both sides of our car tyre. then we came to a dead end with bearly any space to make a u-turn, the boys had to go down from the car just to inspect and see in what ways we were to make the u-turn. in the end we got out of there and met up with Nick to bring use to the right place. but you know what, when we finally arrived at the place, we were told that the food serving time was over already. damn~
..::7th Wonder: Ting-Tong Sessions::..
everyone knows what Langkawi is famous for, so of cause everyone who goes there will drink at least a little bit. so we had what we call 'Ting-Tong Sessions' from the very first night already. the first night there we just had mild session, at our hotel's club call D'Enigma (the club that is supposely 'the zuok' of Langkawi) nobody ended ting-tong lar. then the second night, the boys played poker betting on Jack Daniel's whiskey. all 3 boys (plus Nick) ended up ting-tong slightly lar. a bit too ting-tong to drive, so Joo Li had to be the one to drive while sending Nick back to his HM hostel. the third night we wanted to go try another club called the Raggae House, but when we arrive there we were told that the house band was not performing that night, but all of us had our 1st drink for the night lar. then we can't bare with the quietness of the club so we headed back to D'Enigma. there with the help of other HM boys, we got discount on our jug(s), only RM23 per jug. so all of us continued drinking. this time 4 out of 6 of us (me included) was ting-tong lar. because at Raggae most of us had drifferent drinks, 3 glasses of Bailey's and a Heneiken. back in D'Enigma, we all had beer. the boys drank so much that they were in deed drunk lar, till though we all can't dance, and hardly clubbed, they were loose enough to actually dance lar. the girls stopped drinking when they all almost reach their limit.
so all in all the trip is like the best lar. besides the above mentioned, we also had a very good time shopping for our duty frees, liquor and tabacco, nike shoes and slippers, loads of ferrero rocce, cadbury, toblerone, hershey's and m&ms. Langkawi is a must go destination. you will not regret it, i promise. so along the way we were there, i think a lot of the time, we were high on moth balls... hahaha~!!! and i actually tried many different kinds of alcohol, vodka lime, bailey's and i had a john walker whiskey back in melaka at Siau Keen's house.
if you are planning a trip to Langkawi, the must do activity is the Island Hopping. seriously it's highly recommended. must go to Langkawi. the people that you go with is also very important lar. any destination can be fun as long as you go with the right people. so go to Langkawi people~!!!!!
