The Hair Story

Posing at one of Cambodia's ancient temples

As many of you would have known, I had my hair chopped short for the first time ever in the beginning of this year.

Well I have had a lot of different comments coming my way since then too. Bad comments are many but out shine by the good ones anyway XD ... I had weird questions too, like..

"Leonie!! You cut your hair ah??"

-.-"

"No lar... I woke up in the morning and suddenly notice it grew shorter!!"
**Thank heavens this is only in my mind not mouth**

it's not even a "Leonie!! you cut your hair!!", it is really a "Leonie!! You cut your hair ahhh?".

Can't resist rolling my eyes sometimes... XD

There are some reasons why I made this decision to slice my tresses. Many of you also know that I had been through what is now known as a very traumatic time of my life (I am such a drama queen * XD * )

The amount of hair cut off, to me, symbolizes the bad past which I want to let go. As new hair will grow from the root, that's the new fresh start that I want not dwell in the stupidity from the past. I had dyed my hair for the first time too =) This is the new color (for a new era) that I want to see in my life.

Have I told you how much I love my new hair? I love how it looks in the morning, I love how the color is so amazing in the sun light, I love washing it. I just love-love it...

I think I will be keeping my hair short for the time being. This new hairstyle kind of gives the illusion that I am younger. Age is catching up fast!! I am quarter of a century old this year!!

Looking forward to this weekend. I need a hair trim badly... My hair is in my face!!!

Guak Guak Trip!!

Sometime 10 months ago, at about 11.30am...

"Won't it be interesting if we can travel by train from here to Thailand, and then to Cambodia and then Vietnam...?"

"Yea, oh my god... that'll be so cool... I think it can be done lar. Got train from KL Central to Hat Yai mah..."

*Picks up phone and dials travel buddy's extension*

"Oi!! We just thought of this brilliant plan wei... We take train to go to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Want not? Want not?"

"Wah.... so nice... can can can... Then we can cari makan, tangkap gambar... want want want!!"

2 days later...

"Eh!! I tell you arrrr... I took 3 hours just to book the flight back from Ho Chi Minh for us know... got free ticket only the lines all jammed up!! But I've done it!! Yeay!!"

***
We have been waiting for so long... and it is finally here!!!!! We will be up and on our way for our great adventure in barely 2 weeks time. Here's the master plan.

KL Central to Hat Yai
|
Hat Yai to Bangkok
|
Bangkok to Siem Reap
|
Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
|
Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh
|
Ho Chi Minh to LCCT

Currently we are finalizing all our plans and activities we can have along the way. Just last weekend we actually had a makan cum shopping trip to buy all the necessities for us to use during this trip.

We have got our heat-control item, hygiene-control items, travel clothing, bags and pouches, bottles and flasks, and definitely maps and travel guide books.

We are all so looking forward to it... hardly can concentrate on our day jobs. The anticipation of going on a vacation is one thing, but the anticipation on going to a semi-spontaneous trip is another. Oh man...

I will talk our experiences when we come back from the trip, but in the mean time, I pretty sure many of you had actually done trips like this or maybe even better. I look forward to hearing what you have to share with me too!!

Card Games We Love

Our group of friends had travelled together a few times, Sarawak... Cambodia... and a handful more of upcoming trips. Travelling together will definitely mean spending an enormous amount of time with each other. So how do we cope with that and not get bored of each other's sight?

Don't get us wrong though... We love travelling together and are almost equally adventurous and daring. But we are all unique in our own ways and not everyone are able to embrace your uniqueness, you see =) Travelling together, we have learned a lot about one another. One most (helpful) common trait is, we love family fun games.

During our Sarawak Trip, we discovered...

Monopoly Deal

It's a fast pace game derived from the original game. One of us actually bought the game by chance and we started playing on the spot. We got hooked on it ever since. It easy to understand and play. the stack of cards consist of property cards, money, and action cards.

Each player starts of with 7 cards in hand. In each turn a player is to drop up to 3 cards, be it to build his bank account, or his real estate; or use his action card to steal, exchange, demand others' for money and property. He will also have to take another 2 cards from the center deck. The first person to collect 3 complete sets of properties wins.

For the first time, when our flight was annouced to be delayed, we were overjoyed. We hid ourselves at the corner of the waiting area and played game after game.

Another game that we have recently discovered is...

We test run this game for the 1st time last week. We played Boggle Slam with wine as our companion for freaking 3 hours straight. This game is so fun and educational at the same time.

You give out the deck of cards evenly among the players after nominating a 4 letter word. When the game starts, all players are to change the nominated word with the letter in hands. For example, 'GAME' any player can change it to 'TAME' or 'FAME', it will end when a player throws out his last card.

This game is addictive and it tests your vocabulary. This game however, is loud. My ears were ringing after the three hours of screaming into each other's ears.

These 2 game cards which we have tried, kept us occupied for some days and nights while we are on our vacation. As we are all not so big on parties, these are good activities to bond our frendships as well as to fill in on nights which we just want a little 'we' time.

Try it for yourselves and do share your experiences with me =)

Journey to Skinnyville #3

After mentioning all my favorite things about working out, here is the real reason why I signed up to this commitment...

FOOD!!!

I love food too much to go on a diet, seriously. I can't stand a hungry stomach. I can't think straight when I am hungry, sometimes I can't even smile when my stomach is growling. I have it all, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You think I can resist chicken rice if it's laid out in front of me? Fat hopes...

Food is the main essential for your body to build energy. In my younger days, I use to starve myself for weeks, yes I did lose weight fast, but what I did not notice or care back then was, yes I did lose weight, but was my body healthy? When you deprive your body of (healthy) food, you directly depriving it from necessary nutrients as well. It won't be so pretty anymore when you suffer from other things like gastritis and all day lethargy.

So my advice to you is eat, not over-eating but just eat. When you are on a consistent and disciplined work-out routine, you have nothing to worry. Will you achieve your goal of having a hot body still? Yes, you will. Because while you work out and eat normally, you will actually be building more muscles instead on piling on fats.

So how do you do it in a not-overeating way? I litterally live to the saying "Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince and Dine like a pauper". My meals consist of not much rice or noodle (of any sort). Lucky for me because I love greens and I am ok with cutting down on red meat. I have a new found favorite too, I love fish.

With constant work out, I am able to feast on all my favorite foods *chicken rice, steamed fish, sambal belacan* while enjoying a fitter body with firmer body parts... bliss...

Journey to Skinnyville #2

Thing i absolutely love about the gym...

1) Working out and sweating... it makes me feel like I am sweating away stress and depression from work. The beads of sweat dripping from my forehead and back, somewhat gives me comfort and bliss *must be the endorphins after a long and dreading day at work.

2) Satisfaction... you know that you are doing yourself and your body a healthy favor when you sweat all your body toxic out and give yourself a healthier physique.

3) The Morning After... after gym that is. When you wake up and feel the tinge in muscles that you had worked on the evening before, you know that your work out was right. Your whole body feels stretched and somewhat awake. It feels great~

4) The Physical Changes... When your flabs disappear and your fats turn to muscles, that's where you know your hard work paid off.

The journey continues...

Journey to Skinnyville #1

Wow~ never did i realize how much weight that I had gain in the past couple of years.

Looking back at old photos, how hideous i look now~!! oh god... Have you seen how fat my ass is lately?

look at that fat ass... oh god...

look at that tummy... my goodness...

I didn't... till people started pointing it out to me. Then i realized and i don't want it to get worst. So what did I do? Well, the most ridiculous thing of cause... JOIN THE GYM~!!

I'm currently on a program and really hope that it will work. I have been on it for 2 weeks now, and there is a little bit of changes that I see on myself. I will share the bits in the coming posts, just to make sure that it works for me before I recommend it to you.

We are on a journey to Skinnyville. Our target it actually to reach there before the mid of March.

Why? You will know soon...
